Black booties

Posted by Siel in knitting, starbuckschallenge (Saturday December 17, 2005 at 5:28 pm)

There are some who don’t think black’s an appropriate color for babies. I disagree.

Of course I’m kid free —

But black will always be the new black. Young hip mommies realize that.

I see a lil market for green LA girl’s handknits — My plan is to start a lil knitting biz — hand knit baby things made from yarn recycled from undesired sweaters. Sustainable, eco-friendly, and hand-knit in the USA — Think it’ll work?

This endeavor may have to wait till after the Starbucks Challenge thing. Tomorrow — A groundbreaking solution that Starbucks could use to fix its “break down in customer service” in 9 days, not 9 months. It may, in fact, change how companies do customer service forever.

Theoretically…

  1. Seems to me that lots of coffee combined with knitting could lead to an emergency room visit.

  3. I’ll help you! I make a black with white polka dots bunting for babies a lot. It’s too cute for words! (It’s not my pattern, so I can say that!)

  4. As a mom of a 3-month old girl, black booties sound terrific (as does Andrea’s bunting)! Last night we got our little bean dressed up in a jumper her uncle and aunt bought her in France for her first trip to a restaurtant (it involved breastfeeding behind the coat rack and changing her entire outfit - NOT a good sign - on the floor of the men’s room, but that’s another story…). Anyway, she had adorable purple tights on, but since no booties we had matched she had to go bootie-less. Black knit booties from recycled yarn would have been tres chic!

  5. If you’re going to do it, you better hurry! Milo’s litte feet are rapidly becoming Milo’s huge feet.

  7. What does (G,D & R) mean?

Andrea — Will you be putting up pics of the bunting?

  9. Since we can’t knit together, we could try coordinating our knitting activities — Colors and such –

Or is that just nerdy? ;)

  10. For the record, there is nothing wrong with black booties for babies; tres chic. GD&R? “Grinning, Ducking & Running”. . .

  11. Why not, Siel? Start a little business of knitted little things..or big things…I would think that it will be very rewarding to you :-) Hope you start soon, why wait..you have a few costumers already…Good job.

  12. Hi just stumbled upon your site, think your idea is very interesting, if you make a go of it would love to sell them on my site. Don’t know if you would like it though as we currently sell booties made out of lambskin, with lambswool inners, including a very funky black pair. Can guarantee all lambs died naturally, so we are making use of an otherwise wasted resource.
