Ok -- I've downloaded the PDF list from the UK FT site -- and printed it out! Will do some serious research tomorrow :)

As with you, however, I'm totally for LOCAL stuff. Coffee's not grown in Cali, but wine most def is. Thus -- I'm even more interested in finding organic winemakers in California :)

And excellend advice about drinking more water. I need to do more of that -- It's just hard, ya know, when I can just drink more wine. A 1 for 1 ratio sounds tough -- But I s'pose it beats the hell out of cutting back --

Siel,

Are you aware that there are actually fair trade certified wines available? I'd have to dig up the research I've done on this, but if you google the U.K.-based Fair Trade Foundation and check their product pages you'll find the short list of what's available. Not sure if any of it is currently available in the U.S. yet or not, but given your dual interests in wine and fair trade, perhaps a new GreenLAGirl campaign is in order?

Cheers,
Chris

P.S. On the hangover issue that was discussed a bit in the comments section of your post a week or two ago, I'm sure it goes without saying, but the most effective way of avoiding hangovers (short of not drinking, which is obviously no kind of solution) is drink water. Seriously girl. You gotta make this a habit. For every glass of wine you drink, have a glass of water. Then have another big glass of water before you go to bed. I've got lots of other hangover prevention hints but I don't want to clog up your comments page and all. Besides, one of the best prevention remedies is to drink beer (craft beer that has not had the yeast filtered out or pasteurized, because the yeast actually helps replace some of the nutrients depleted by the alcohol, and those nutrients [mostly vitamins in the B complex] help maintain body fluids)- but I know you prefer wine, so that ain't much help, so I'll shut up now.
