New window, new outlook

If any of my car windows spontaneously break again, I know just the local company to call.

I found this bro-n-sis outfit via Jim Matson Automotive, an honest mechanic Thom of Monkey & Son told me about in one of the comments here.

Jim, I have to say, is super sweet. The guy told me where to get my window fixed, my new tires bought, and those tires aligned — and even gave me advice on which tires to buy — all over the phone, to someone who’s never even stepped foot into his shop. “Tell them Jim Matson sent you,” he said. I’ve never even been there, but I think I’m gonna be a ustomer for life!

But back to the glass. The company, S&S Auto Glass Inc., gets info about your car, orders the glass, and comes to where you are to install it for you! The woman on the phone was super friendly and helpful, even looking into whether or not a used window was avaliable for cheaper.

Her brother arrived with a second helper guy, installed the new window, and did a thorough vaccuming job, picking up all the glass and even finding an errant $5 bill stuck in a cranny, which I used as tip. Total cost for new window and installation: $102.84, post-tax.

Tomorrow — My search for new tires from a locally owned company –

Update, 1/9/06: I got new tires!

S&S Auto Glass, Inc. 10101 S. Hawthorne Blvd., Unit F. Inglewood. 800.652.1616. 310.680.1601.
