Cindy of Starbucks communication update: 3 days without a response.
I left a voicemail both Monday and this morning (Wed.). Not saying that that’s too long — I get that Cindy might be busy, and will only start getting worried after a week or so. This post’s just an FYI to keep a record of what’s been goin’ on, in terms of communication between Starbucks Challengers and Starbucks corporate.
And yes, I do hope that this post will encourage Cindy, or someone else in Starbucks’ CSR department, to return my calls. After all, Starbucks HQ dutifully checks out green LA girl pretty much all day every day, according to both awstats and statcounter. I’m just hoping I can channel some of Starbucks’ energy used hitting refresh into hitting reply — or actually calling me back.
Update, 1/13/06: In a fit of curiosity, I called Major to see if Cindy’s out of the office or something. He said he believes she was out earlier in the week, but that she’s in today. Left another message, but wanted to let everyone know that it’s v. possible Cindy’s slammed right now, trying to catch up on work from while she was out.
Update, 1/19/05: It’s now been 11 days and 5 voicemails.

After Starbucks on every corner in Christchurch, NZ I returned to - as I thought - Starbuck-free Ireland only to nearly cause a commotion on Dame Street when I stopped dead on the footpath at the sight of a newly opened Starbucks. And it’s not the first branch either. They’re already opened in the shiny new Dundrum Town Centre and, according to an Irish Times article, are working on getting six outlets open in the next year. I guess I should do the Starbucks Challenge in Ireland now but I just can’t bring myself to go into the shop!

I knew about the Starbucks in Ireland, thanks to Dec’s rambling — Dec took the challenge at both stores. It looks like getting fair trade coffee isn’t a problem there. But as for the mega corp’s tendency to make your city look more and more like our cities… well…
Is there maybe something you can do over there to stop the other six outlets?

Green LA Girl, I think I love you!

Oh Siel — its too late. When I lived and worked in Dublin in 1980, I worked at the Woolworths (American dime store) on Grafton Street, across the street from McDonalds.
But oh the smell of Guiness out in the neighborhood where I was staying near the brewery . . . (grin)

Josh — Declarations of love are always welcome. Thank you. Thank you.
Roger — Is Guiness your guilty indulgence? You know, cuz you usually brew your own beer, yes? I used to kinda like Guiness, but then my metabolism slowed down in my 20s…
