I must be like the only person in San Francisco without a laptop. What’s a blogger to do?
Thus, a very, very incomplete list of coffee shops that offer not only fair trade coffee but computer time for those who, like me, can’t access the free wifi in every coffee shop in town (except at Starbucks — there you gotta pay for Tmobile).
Mac lovers — try Quetzal Internet Cafe. You’ll notice the neon signs proudly announcing its “organic fair trade coffee”! Also — Quetzal makes yummy smoothies.
Cost: 16 cents per minute. Kinda pricy.
Where: 1234 Polk St San Francisco. 415.673.4181.
Prefer PCs? Go to Cafe Organica. It’s where I am right now, drinking water (too much coffee today) and clicking away. [Update, 11/11/06: Cafe Organica closed!]
Cost: $2 for 15 mins (minimum), $3 for 30, $5 for 1 hour, and $15 per day if you’d rather blog than see what San Francisco looks like outside.
Where: 562 Central Avenue. San Francisco. 415.441.1338.
Must dash now to make it to the Commonwealth Club. Feel free to add your fave fair trade coffee serving internet cafes in San Francisco in the comments –
Update, 2/3/06: Rockin’ Java in Haight also offers fair trade coffee with Mac access :)

Siel,
This is unrelatd to your post, and you probably already know this, but I figured I’d share… I went to a Bruegger’s down here near my new place of employment in Coronado, and I was pleasantly surpised to see that the two main types of coffee brewing were both Green Mountain fair trade blends. The board said they brew them every day, and it was in clear and plain site, and I would guess with their setup people who don’t even have a clue about fair trade probably are buying it without even knowing it! My impression of Bruegger’s just improved, and having a great Mediterranean Bagel sandwich didn’t hurt!

Siel,
If you are ever in Bozeman and sipping at Cafe Evoke, you can use mine (or one of the two free computer stations we will have available) to post to Green LA Girl. I would not want your visit to hinder your posting..
..be bold

Don’t forget Momi Tobi’s in Hayes Valley … not only fabulous coffee, but free WiFi and fantastic sandwiches… speaking of which, I’d better get down there.
Awesome to meet you last night!!! Looking forward to doing it again sometime!

Hey Nick — Just read the reviews of Momi Toby’s on Yelp, and was psyched that they offer wine AND coffee, but then I just called, and they don’t do any fair trade :( “Unfortunately,” said ruefully the person who answered the phone… Perhaps, as a patron, you can give ‘em a lil nudge? ;)
Thanks Jason — One day, when it’s not snowing, I’ll try my best to get to Bozeman.
And Russ — There aren’t any Bruegger’s near me, but hey, I might be in Coronado one of these days. Comin’ up to LA anytime soon? I’ll send an evite to you and your fiance for my chocolate and wine party, just in case –
