Are 5 posts in one day overwhelming? Sorry — I’m a lil under the weather, and couldn’t make it to KCRW to answer phones for their pledge drive :( So instead, I’m blogging, with my Wabis on.
But! Tons of cool stuff happening today — Including a thoughtful and encouraging post by Claire, a Starbucks barista in Rochester, NY.
Dedicated readers have probably run by Claire’s comments on green LA girl in the past. Now, Claire reports on the Starbucks Challenge on her own blog, Claire Hawley.
Claire was (and still is, as I am too) upset about the Challengers who were unkind to baristas. But the challenge also led her to ask: “Why isn’t Starbucks doing more?”
And she’s not just asking questions — She’s taking action! Claire’s first step: To ask her manager if their store could have a sign promoting Cafe Estima — Starbuck’s only fair trade blend — out at all times, which’ll help educate even the customers who don’t yet care about fair trade coffee :)
I hope her manager agrees. I personally am really touched that Claire’s pushing for fair trade coffee internally at Starbucks. We really need more people like Claire and Michael –
