Another Guardian joins the Starbucks Challenge

Posted by Siel in caffeine, fairtrade, nocal, starbuckschallenge (Friday February 3, 2006 at 2:08 pm)

More MSM coverage of the Starbucks Challenge, this time in the San Francisco Bay Guardian. (Guardian UK reported on the challenge last month)

Masha of the food snoop — who gave us the handy list of fair trade & organic coffee shops in San Francisco, now reports on the “theory-versus-practice aspect of Starbucks’s (and perhaps other coffee leviathans’?) offer to make a French press of fair-trade coffee for any customer so desiring.”

I like how Masha weaves in words like obfuscation and prevarication into her coffee talk! And next time I’m in NoCal, I’ll try her latest recommendation: Arizmendi Bakery Cooperative, a yum bakery that also serves fair trade coffee :)

  1. If McDonald’s can serve fair trade coffee, certainly Starbucks oughta…

  2. You’d think so. I wonder if Starbucks will wait till McDonald’s rolls out fair trade coffee around the US, and the mermaid’s shares start falling –

  5. Hehe — I like GLAG a lot more than greenlag, the truncated version of greenlagirl that my host assigned me as my username. I’m not a green lag!
