Social Justice summit at Fullerton

Pics to come later when the internet connection’s fixed, but I had fun talking to students at Cal State Fullerton about “How You Can Change the World with Your Morning Cup of Coffee.”

That was the title of my presentation, given yesterday at the 2nd annual Social Justice Student Summit, “Rooting Ourselves in Social Change.” I was officially there as a representative from United Students for Fair Trade, and covered everything from Justice at Jazzman’s to Fair Trade LA to the Starbucks Challenge.

Sadly, I totally missed Tom Hayden’s keynote :( But i did make it in time for a yummy vegan lunch with about 200 other people, mainly students from Cal State Fullerton and Cal Poly.

And I met Natasha, there representing the Student Farmworker Alliance. In fact, all the tables were really cool — We had Planned Parenthood to the ACLU to the United Farm Workers to the United Students Against Sweatshops to IndyMedia — and even the bloggy Path to Freedom! I circled the room holding a Repocket folder and a Jo-Bee recycled pen given out to attendees –

The Summit, organized by Students ACT, appears to be an annual event — Something activists and activist groups might keep in mind in future years –
