Got Cinco de Mayo plans? If not, consider partying with GOOD — GOOD Magazine’s throwing a Cinco de Mayo party this Friday!
Where: Equator Books. 1103 Abbot Kinney. Venice.
When: 8 pm - 12 am.
How: If you’re a subscriber, just RSVP to rsvp@goodmagazine.com then show up. Not a subscriber yet? Then become one already at the GOOD website then RSVP to rsvp@goodmagazine.com.
GOOD Magazine’s aim’s to “embraces this generation’s merger of capitalism and idealism.” But the mag’s a weird one, in a good way. For starters, there’s no actual magazine yet — the launch issue doesn’t come out till this fall. While you may feel puzzled at subscribing to a mag that doesn’t exist yet, you’ll be pleased to know that your entire $20 subscription will go to a nonprofit of your choice.
I signed up at the Santa Monica Earth Day event — My $20 went to the World Wildlife Fund.
See you at the party — There’ll be an exhibit of photos from The Border Film Project, a speaker on immigration in LA, a mariachi band, a dj, raffles, and free drinks!
Update, 5/8/06: Pics from the party :)
Update, 7/24/06: GOOD invited me to do a blind coffee tasting :)
Update, 9/10/06: The coffee tasting article’s up, and GOOD’s throwing a launch party :)
