Roger -- I LOVE tricycles! Why is it that those things are only made for yong-uns?

I'll look into getting a beginners class re: road safety and basic bike maintenance -- Am thinking of signing up for <a href="http://www.labikecoalition.org/events/calendar.html#brst" rel="nofollow">this one</a>. Thanks for the tips everyone :) I didn't know that Better World did bikes too!

Anna -- bitchinspin may be a lil too hardcore for me. You guys are like really serious bikers! I just tool around town...

safety first -- Thanks for the concern :) I got a helmet today! (see new post)

Congrats on the bike purchase! I hadn't ridden a bike much since I was a really young kid and just recently purchased a used mtn bike to peddle around in. Let me know if you have any questions about what else to get since I did some research about my accessories purchases.

Agree with all of the above about road safety, helmets, etc. If you haven't already, it's extremely useful to take a beginner bike maintenance class to get some basics down and avoid stress and anxiety later.

Happy riding out there. I take a ride when I need to de-stress and it really makes me feel much more alive than driving around aimlessly!

I'm so embarassed--I still don't know how to ride a bike. Blame it on a lifetime of apartment-dwelling or wimpy knees :(

But if I had a bike, it would *totally* be pink!

YEEEEEEHAW! It looks so cute! Needless to say I'm super psyched for you, and for me - a new biking buddy on this side of town! Next thing you know we'll have you out on our <a href="http://www.bitchinspin.blogspot.com" rel="nofollow">"bitchin tuesdays" ride</a> w/ Team Riley...

But one thing at a time, well let you acclimate to urban biking first. And do some caffeinated tooling around together....you GO girl!!! This is gonna change your world.

But don't put it next to one of those boy bikes, or you might get a litter of tricycles (grin). . .

In all seriousness, find someone to give you a road cycling course; you will be much safer and a happier non-autobot . . . You can probably do this through the LA County Bicycle Coalition, worth joining for the cool "One Less Car" t-shirt. Also, keep in mind that "The Better World Club" is an auto-club substitute that give you "bike towing" in case the bike flats or breaks . . . you and your bike can get to where you are goin' (like home) if you break down on the way . . .

Yeah for the BIKE!
