A Carless culture’s a series of posts that examines how we can make de-car-ing a sexy and viable travel solution for Angelenos.
More deets on how to shape the direction of our public transit system in LA!
In response to my previous post, Kymberleigh, a member of the MTA Citizens Advisory Council, emailed to lemme know a lil more about the council.
Apparently, one can’t simply join the Council, which is a state-mandated advisory body to the MTA Board of Directors. To become a council member, you need to be appointed to it by a current member of the MTA Board of Directors.
However, anyone can go to the monthly Council general meetings — where they can add their comments to the record. Meetings are held on the 4th Wed. of each month at 6:30 pm at the MTA Gateway Headquarters at 1 Gateway Plaza, adjacent to Union Station.
Sez Kymberleigh: “I would recommend to you and your readers joining Southern California Transit Advocates, a non-profit organization of about two decades’ standing which does weigh in on all matters transit-related, with all of the agencies in the region.”
Their meetings are on the 2nd Sat. of each month, at 1 pm in room 422 of Angeles Plaza at 255 S. Hill St., near Pershing Square Red Line Station.
Kymberleigh’s a long-time member of So.Ca.Ta herself, and her roles with that org led to her current position on the MTA Citizens Advisory Council :) Thanks for the info, Kymberleigh!
