If you’re looking for love, get on the bus. One bus rider found the man of her dreams on the Big Blue bus, fell in love, and even proposed to the guy, mid-ride. Cute, yeah?
These two UCLA law students lived only 8 blocks apart, but had never met, until they got on the bus. Sez the woman: “I was struck by his electric smile and the friendly, “Good morning†he gave to the driver.”
So — get out of the isolating confines of your individual cars, and get on the Big Blue Bus :) And even if you’re not looking for love right now, it’s much more likely that you’ll make friends on the bus than you will fighting traffic on the 405.
On a side note — I tried to take the 10 Express today [cuz my first bus line pick didn't go so well]. Got to the stop at 8:57, then left the stop to go to my car at 9:13 cuz I knew I’d run late at that point — My class is at 10.
Turns out the bus I need to catch comes around 8:45 — which I coulda made, if I hadn’t hit snooze. Damn it! I’ll do better on Thursday –
Update, 10/25/06: The buses worked better for me this time –

love this! haven’t found my dream partner on the blue bus…but i have made some friends and even been asked for my number a couple of times, guess i’ll keep riding and waiting, ha ha :)

You could have made it, Siel, if you took the next trip. If the freeway is clear, you could have made it to downtown fast, and both the DASH and 81 would have been frequent. You might have even caught a 38.

Hey Wad — I’ll def. wait a lil longer next time, now that I know — I guess I’ve gotten a lil too used to some of the slow MTA buses :P I was also freaking out a little cuz I’ve been late to this lecture a few too many times. But dude — Next week, I’m so on the BBB.
vanessa — What bus line do you take? Maybe we’ll run into each other –
