Shoe fix
Biking and dancing are tough on shoes! One of the Choos to the left there’d actually lost a lil black bow — in addition to getting scuffed up and stuff.
Luckily, I found a great shoe repair dude in running distance :) He’s called Mike, and he made me a new bow! He also reheeled a couple of my other pairs of shoes for me :) A week later, it’s like I have 3 new pairs of shoes!
My philosophy on shoes: Buy fewer shoes, but buy nice ones that’ll last a while. Wear them often, and get ‘em fixed if you mess ‘em up.
I will admit the Choos were rather too indulgent. But Prada loafers’ll last you a LONG long time, making their amortized cost cheaper overall than the wear-and-toss Payless kind.
Also, get shoes that’ll be wearable for multiple seasons. (No, I don’t own Uggs) Less waste all around!
An even better option might be not to damage the shoes, thereby getting rid of the need to get ‘em fixed all the time.
I’m still working on that –

that is way to go!
a month ago i had a pair of old sandals and hiking shoes mended. 5€ instead of the 250€ for two new pairs of the same kind/brand … they have last me more than 5 years hopefully they will hang in there yet some time …

kudos to you for repairing instead of buying new and at the same time supporting a small local business rather than a large overseas manufacture.
I spend the last weekend learning to sew and then mending all my worn out clothes. It was much more satisfying than any shopping spree.
p.s. do you really bike in the those shoes? fancy.
p.p.s. next time you are ready to invest check out adbusters’ shoes. when you buy a pair, you become a shareholder in the company and get to vote on new designs, etc.

Thanks boys :) Yes, I do indeed wear these shoes biking! Except for the Choos, cuz they’re just too delicate :)
I’ve been interested in the adbusters shoes, but I just don’t wear sneaks very often. I do, however, wanna give them as gifts — Thanks for letting me know about the whole shareholder thing!
