Vote! Member of State Board of Equalization, 4th District

Posted by Siel in environment, feminist/politics (Saturday November 4, 2006 at 9:06 am)

How I’m voting for the environment on Nov. 7, 2006, at the state-level. Here’s how I’m voting on the propositions.

My vote for the State Board of Equalization, district 4: Judy Chu

What does the State Board of Equalization do?: According to its website, “The mission of the State Board of Equalization is to serve the public through fair, effective, and efficient tax administration.” The Board has 5 members, 4 of whom are elected by district. The 5th member’s the State Controller.

I’ll be voting for Judy Chu for the same reasons I voted for her in the primaries: Judy’s endorsed by the Sierra Club and the California League of Conservation Voters, which gave her a Scorecard 100% rating for pro-environment votes as state assembly member :)

Sez the LA Times in endorsing Judy: “The three-term state assemblywoman and former mayor of Monterey Park is independent and hardworking, and she understands state finances well enough to keep from being hoodwinked by firms seeking clever ways to avoid paying their share of sales taxes.”
