On reader recommendations, I went to City Museum while in St. Louis.
This museum’s like an over-energetic kid’s paradise. Tunnels and little slides abound, many of them too small for adults to crawl through.
Another cool thing about the museum: While I’m sure the museum used a lot of new materials, it also re-used a lot of old stuff in creating its exhibits.
The museum describes itself as an “eclectic mixture of children’s playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects,” emphasis mine.
Never underestimate the utility — and the fun-ness — of found objects :)
Below are me and my sis, as monkeys.
Why does she look so much happier than me? :P

Did you find the underground tunnels? I loved it, but you had to get on your hands and knees to crawl through the tight space. My wife went down the long slide with a fleece on and she flew past the ending point onto the concrete. Quite funny

I did, but I had nice shoes and pants on, so I just watched the nimble kids climb through :) Funny ’bout your wife — Did you not follow suit?
