Swap-O-Rama-Rama

Posted by Siel in consumerism, losangeles (Thursday December 14, 2006 at 12:17 pm)

Swap-O-Rama-Rama’s coming! It’s “a giant clothing swap and series of do-it-yourself workshops in which a community explores reuse and creativity through the recycling of used clothing.”

Basically, you get there, with or without a bag ‘o duds you no longer want in hand for donation.

Then, you just pick out the stuff you want, and if need be, fix these “new” duds up by taking a DIY class — embroidery, beading, appliqué, etc. — that teaches you how. Don’t just be a consumer — Be a creator!

When: December 16, 2006, 11 am - 7 pm
Where: Shrine Auditorium Expo Center. 700 W 32nd St. Los Angeles.
Cost: $5 with any size bag of unwanted clothing; $10 without clothing

Once you step in the doors, everything’s free! You can take home as much clothing as you can carry. Leftovers’ll be donated to Out of The Closet Thrift Stores.
