Dishwashing blues

Posted by Siel in consumerism (Friday December 29, 2006 at 6:06 pm)

I finally got that bamboo utensil tray I wanted — There it is to the left!

What getting it’s made me realize: I need silverware. Beyond what you see in the pic, I have exactly 4 more spoons and a couple forks, which were dirty at the time of the photo shoot.

Or I could just serve finger foods only when I have people over –

But since I also got bamboo salad tongs for xmas, I should prolly get forks people can eat salad with. As well as salad bowls.

Since I started trying to do the 100 mile diet, I’ve been cooking like a maniac. I don’t mind the cooking so much — it’s just that afterwards, you have dirty dishes and stuff.

And cuz, as you know, I don’t have much silverware, I have to do dishes constantly :(

Anyone know where I can get eco-friendly rubber gloves?

  4. siel, my solution of using pom glasses to store silverware is no longer practical and i am in the hunt for a silverware organizing tray…i followed the link for this bamboo fair trade utensil trade to branch, but they seem to no longer have it. would you happen to know the brand name of the company that produces this? a half hour of google searches for “bamboo fair trade utensil tray” is dredging up many options that are neither fair trade, nor bamboo, nor utensil trays.

  5. I believe it was made by bambu, but I don’t think they make them anymore :( An easier eco-option might be trying to get a tray used via Craigslist — but I’ll keep my eye out for other options –
