- More fascinating drycleaning news: Perc’s on the way out! The Cali Air Resources Board voted to “ban the purchase of new perc machines as of 2008 and to phase out the use of all perc by 2023.”
- Are memes getting redundant, or is it just me? On the heels of the “5 things you don’t know about me” meme, I’ve been tagged for a “6 things that not many people would know about me” meme. So I shall just add one item to the last meme: Once I bought dealcoholized wine by accident cuz I was in a hurry. And I’ll tag one additional, unlikely to respond cuz he’s sorta famous, person: Eric Garcetti.
- I’m gonna drastically curb my sushi habit for now. Mercury contamination’s looking scarier than ever –
- Sustainable Business Council in LA launches a navigable website, finally. You’d think those biz coalitions — the kind that charge cover for its events and have (more) money to blow (than grassroots, nonprofit orgs) — would be more on top of this e-stuff. Speaking of sushi, one of my 12 short goals for 2007 is to try sushi (I’ve never had it) and also to eat shrimp (I became aversive to it as a small child and haven’t eaten that for over 30 years). If you or any of your readers care to offer suggestions on where to eat either food stuff (or to offer suggestions on anything else on the list), I’ve begged with no response for some ideas here.

Don: If you’re in Westwood, try Asakuma - excellent place. In general, if you’re a Sushi first-timer, make sure you tell them about it. Most places are more than happy to give you a bit more info and introduce you slowly, avoiding the rather unusual things that might scare the average non-sushi person.
Siel: I’m confused - how’s that article related to increasing problems with Mercury, esp. in relation to Sushi? Yes, mercury contamination is a problem - but it hasn’t gotten any worse recently. At least not as far as I can tell from the article?

Maybe the CSMonitor’s piece wasn’t the best one to link to… Here’s another article about the mercury fish issue. I mention sushi because sushi’s the most frequent way I eat fish.
