My squirrel just cares for me
Yes, that is my foot. I have a squirrel that has a crush on me –
The lil guy lives in the apartment courtyard. When I first moved in, he used to run away when he saw me — but no longer.
Today as I walked up the stairs to my apartment he hurriedly scampered down a tree to follow me!
We had a little friendly confrontation a couple steps from my doorway —
He’s very cute, but I’m a little concerned now when I open my apartment door — What if the squirrel scampers in? How will I coax him back out?
I’m not responsible enough to own a pet –
Odd problem? Perhaps. In the meantime, I’d like to name the lil dude. Suggestions?

I suggest either Damien or Cujo. Maybe it has something to do with the red glow to his eyes in the second picture…

I think he/she looks like a Rocky. (Okay, I know that Rocky is usually reserved for Raccoons but I feel a bit like stepping outside the box today!) :-)

Nutta’s just so friendly that he unnerves me. He is so cute that I don’t want to reject him, but he’s a squirrel that I think should run free and not want to be tamed — Today he was just hanging out right outside my door. He wants human affection and I just don’t know what to do –

I have squirrels in my building and they like to have presents made to them of raw nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, and walnuts seem to go over best).
One squirrel is relatively tame after accepting a number of said gifts, and will come up to me and take the nut out of my hand. Said squirrel did once come inside my apartment when I left the door open, looking (I presume) to see if I had left any nuts out in the open. I had no problem coaxing it back outside with a nut.
The squirrel now climbs on my screen door from time to time to see if I’m home to mooch from. :)
