So my toothpaste and hair gel got confiscated at the airport — the former on the way back, and the latter on the way there, to add to my confusion about what is and isn’t allowed.
Anyway — this morning I dropped by Co-opportunity — my friendly neighborhood co-op grocery store — to replace the stuff, and found a new wine, left. It’s the first fair trade bottle I’ve held, I think!
More on that later after I drink it — I’d have a glass with lunch but I must teach this afternoon.
In the meantime, for the wine-curious: Now you can make your own, private batch of wine — virtually.
Crushpad’s a winery in San Francisco that lets you pick out grapes, then monitor and manage your wine remotely: “You choose your level of involvement and we do the rest. No matter where you live, you can now create your own “cult” wine.” (via kottke)
I’m guessing you’ll need a v. refined palate if you’re gonna figure out if your virtual undertaking was, in fact, undertaken per your specifications. I’m still of the opinion that winemaking may be best left to the experts, esp. if I can’t trample on the grapes themselves, which to me sounds like the funnest part of winemaking (aside from the drinking part, maybe).
On another note: I’m grateful that I got to keep my contact lens solution through both flights –
