Went to CO[LA]BORATE: SEEing Green earlier tonight. Basically, it was like the Green Business Networking events — a buncha tables showing off green and greenish companies, with organic wine and vegetarian food to get people excited.
I heart organic wine.
Tonight’s stuff was Bonterra, and I drank it while browsing around CiscoHome, the sustainable furniture store where the event was held.
I found out about a few eco-paper companies like Mohawk, the FSC-certified green initiatives of insync media, and the many many “make your home green” companies from Organic Interior Design to Green Nest to Low Impact Living — and of course, CiscoHome itself.
CiscoHome, BTW, is apparently “Los Angeles’ first furniture manufacturer to create an FSC-certified line of furniture as well as building the LEED-certified Los Angeles Design Center located in South Los Angeles.”
The purpose of the night: To “introduce designers and other creatives to products and tools that are Sustainable, Environmental and Ecological…. Celebrate Earth Day with the companies and experts who are reinventing the way products and designs are created, packaged and recycled.”
Cool enough — though I left early, since I pretty much couldn’t afford anything there except the free wine.
Plus, I was prolly the only person taking the bus home. Took the 212 down La Brea to Wishire, to get to the 720 stop whose sign said the next bus was coming in 9 mins. 20 mins later, the 720 bus showed up — and the sign still read “Next bus in 9 minutes.” Fun times.
Getting home by 10 pm’s great. You feel you socialized like a nice, friendly human being — and you still have the whole night ahead of you to get shit done –
