If you’ve got a green thumb, here’s a cute little guide that’ll make you happy: Gardener’s Guide to Global Warming (PDF, 40 pgs).
Put together by the people at National Wildlife Federation, the guide proclaims “solutions to global warming are in gardeners’ hands.” Read it to find out what actions you can take as a gardener in your garden, in your community, and with your elected officials.
In fact, you can take the Gardener’s Pledge to take some direct steps — and NWF’ll send you more detailed info on how to do so. You might also take a moment to write your representatives, asking them to support strong global warming legislation.
The Gardener’s Guide even has a chart detailing what state flowers and trees will no longer grow in said states due to global warming. Luckily, the California poppy, California Coast redwood and giant sequoia should be okay.

Thanks so much for highlighting this important report Siel!

I really liked the guide. At first, I thought it was going to claim that by gardening, you could magically sequester carbon from the atmosphere and eliminate greenhouse gasses. Instead, it first talks about being fuel and water efficient, and planting native plants.
I suspect the global warming tie-in is just an eye-catcher for a guide to sustainable gardening. I’m no fan of invasive plants, but I’m not sure that they have much of an effect on climate.
