As a student at Fairfax High way back when, I volunteered on LA Works Day. Now, this annual event’s in its 15th year — and all are welcome to be one of the thousands of volunteers working to transform 10 community sites in Los Angeles.
You can sign up to transform parks, plant trees, paint schools — even create murals — all over the city.
What: 15th Annual LA Works Day, 2007
When: Saturday, June 2 from 7:30 am (registration ends at 8:30 am) – 1 pm
Where: Meet at California Plaza at 350 S. Grand Ave., Downtown Los Angeles, get transported out by bus to community site, meet back up at California Plaza for closing lunch and free concert.
Cost: $25 sign up fee, all going into running the event, including a continental breakfast, lunch by Louise’s Trattoria, an event t-shirt, parking and transportation to and from the assigned community sites, prizes and free gifts from sponsors.
Register via the web, or grab a registration form at Louise’s Trattoria locations throughout the city. Procrastinators can register on the day of the event, at California Plaza.
I’m planning to pitch in, partly because Paul at Burson-Marsteller, the PR firm helping LA Works pro bono, has offered to pay my $25 entry fee. Will you be there? Lemme know which of the 10 sites you plan to go to, and maybe we can work side by side :)
