[The kickoff post's here; dark red lines mark the streets I've walked so far]
Idaho’s a predictably residential street, but Montana’s an odd one — residental on the eastern and western ends, interrupted by a 10-block stretch of higher-end boutiques and restaurants in the middle.
This busy area runs from about 17th to 7th Streets. I’d say that Montana’s like the Rodeo Drive or Madison Avenue of Santa Monica, except Montana really doesn’t have the recognizable high-end designer names.
Instead, it has somewhat smaller-name boutiques, and somewhat lower prices which, for the most part, are still quite expensive….
There’s Wild Oats (now part of Whole Foods) at 16th — with a nice wine store attached — which I visit once in a while, but I really didn’t see any coffee shops worth stopping into.
However, I found out the eco-friendly, Spanish shoe company, El Naturalista, has a nice lil store here. Santa Monica peeps can try on their green leather sandals before forking over the green –
Didn’t have time to try anything on though. I kept walking until I hit the beach –
I’m v. ready for the summer.
Update, 5/31/07: Palisades and Georgina are here.
