A juice detox for the new year
So to kick off my New Year I did a 3-day juice cleanse. The day after it ended, I feel juicier than ever — though I wonder if simply just taking a break from the booze and eating like a normal person would’ve done the trick –
For those of you who’ve asked how I did the cleanse: I basically followed the Love Your Liver Cleanse program described here as closely as possible, thanks to Co-opportunity’s great selection of juices. No, I did not buy a juicer — Everyone I know who gets one of these uses it once then never touches it again. Apparently they’re v. difficult to clean –
Afterwards, an organic pear for breakfast never tasted so sweet — and my morning cup of coffee never tasted better.
The prob with deciding to do a juice cleanse in the new year: The last couple weeks in December, I bombarded my body with all sorts of junk. I even ordered Chinese food, which I pretty much never do, partly because I don’t like it all that much (too greasy) but mainly due to all the wasteful packaging.
Sure enough, I felt gross after eating the stuff, but got good news in the fortune cookies: “Good things will come to you in due time” and “Business and health matters will improve around you.” Woohoo!
I also was gonna try and drink 2 or fewer drinks a day for the month of January. This way, I’d be able to figure out if any of the things I see as probs in my life — laziness, inattentiveness, lack of enthusiasm, disorganization — are due to the drinking habit.
That resolve lasted exactly 6 days.
