I use Burt's Bees, but I didn't know they got bought out.

I had a terrible allergic reaction to Avalon, though.

The Skin Deep database can be rather alarming about the products we generally use. On the upside, if you're often overwhelmed by consumer choices like I often am, Skin Deep really narrows down the "good" options to just a select few, making it easier to choose :)

Ok -- EO, Aubrey, and Korres are all on the short list. I think it'll come down to what items are stocked at the Co-op --

Just switched from Pantene Pro-V hydrating curls to EO's Lemon Verbena a few weeks ago. And I think it rocks: smells good, foams just fine without sodium lauryl sulfate, low environmental/health concerns (0 for conditioner, 1 for shampoo), and my hair is really soft and shiny. About $7-8 for 8oz.

Hi Siel,

I, too, recently switched to Aubrey's after some misfires. It's pricey, and I don't LOVE it, but I like it, and I know it's enviro-friendly. I like the LUSH stuff which is way expensive, and, I think, only considered moderately decent by enviro/chemical standards (which kind of surprised me.)

Yikes! Until now I didn't know about the database, and now Ojon's not looking so good anymore...:( But now it's great to know about the DB -- thanks.

Not on your list and I can't be sure it fits all your criteria, but I was given some samples of Ojon (www.ojon.com) and its awesome.

PS- Has anyone noticed the price increase of the updated versions of that old hippy stand-by, Nature's Gate? I went to Whole Food to replace some conditioner and was shocked.

Oh yeah! I'd forgotten Burt's got bought out! I still buy products from some eco companies that've gotten bought -- i.e. Tom's of Maine toothpaste -- but that's if there aren't other equally good eco options available.

So Aubrey Organics and Korres will win out over Burt's. Other opinions, people?

About the price -- I just realized that I bought JASON back in JULY 2007!!!! I guess my hair was shorter for a big part of that time -- I also don't wash every day, and tried out some sample stuff in between. But in any case, I think that I can swing the more expensive stuff b/c amortized over time, I'm really not spending much money on shampoo at all --

I use Aubrey Organics swimmer's shampoo and I love it, but unfortunately it is quite expensive for regular use. I also wish I could purchase larger bottles for the conditioner.
