you should give up on making money blogging and do what you shoulda done in the first place - write for the joy of writing.
and get a fucking job.

Why must discourse or advice now descend into the pit of crass invective? I’m referring, of course to this post ending with “Get a fucking job,” when “Get a job” would have sufficed quite adequately.

Actually, I think the fucking adds a necessary punch. What do you have against crass invectives?

Thanks for writing this, Siel. When I started blogging, the thought of making money didn’t even cross my mind. Only recently have I added advertising to my site, and I unfortunately lost at least one reader who said that I had become like all the others who suddenly get popular (a few hundred readers per day is not that popular) and sell out. Well, can you blame a girl for wanting to recoup her computer expenses a little bit?
Anyway, I totally agree that the reason for blogging should be the love of the topic, the love of writing, and the love of connecting with other people. If you make a little money, it’s a bonus and nothing more.

I guess I incorporated ads near the v. beginning, so no one actually bothered me about them. I have rejected a few blogads though –
