Organic tequila makes friends easily, I discovered when we opened a bottle of 4Copas Organic Tequila at my friend Summer’s birthday party (we haven’t gotten to the pictured vodka yet). 4Copas makes the world’s only line of organic tequila, made with 100% organic blue agave. The bottles too are beautiful, as they’re hand-blown by Jalisco craftspeople in local workshops!
Eco-products won’t attract fans unless they do their job well though — and 4Copas, thankfully, is a very tasty tequila according to the party guests who took a shot. Their collective verdict: Very smooth, with a limey citrus finish and a clean aftertaste.
Lest you don’t trust the tastebuds of random partygoers, I’ve got additional proof of 4Copas’ tastiness. For one, all the best hip restaurants all over the L.A. area — from the eco-friendly Akasha restaurant in Culver City to the carnivorous BOA Steakhouse in Santa Monica — stock their bars with 4Copas. You can find restaurants, bars and stores to get your 4Copas fix in Arizona, California, Illinois, Nevada, or New York. Otherwise, you’ll need to buy it online.
Prices for a bottle of 4Copas starts at $49.99 — pretty reasonable for a premium tequila. I tend to think good tequila’s really for drinking by itself or on the rocks, though others have no probs using it in mixed drinks. Caroline on Crack notes that Akasha restaurant offers a Red Velvet Margarita — 4 copas organic tequila, lime juice, blood orange juice and agave nectar — for $14. And Natalie, The Liquid Muse, has concocted a recipe for a Method Margarita Martini using 4 Copas tequila.
In addition to its commitment to organics and local craftsmanship, 4Copas occasionally does other cute eco stuff — like participating in the 28th Annual Sea Turtle Symposium! 4Copas made special edition Sea Turtle bottles of tequila for the event, with proceeds going to SeaTurtle.org. Want a bottle? Sign up on this page, and 4 Copas will let you know when they make more of these limited edition bottles.
Thanks to Sarah of Pink Cloud Events for the tequila!
