Clicklist: More updates — BBB, BPA, rBGH

Posted by Siel in clicklist, de-car-ing (Wednesday August 20, 2008 at 3:04 pm)

>> Update on the Big Blue Bus’ new Rapid 7, which replaced the Super 7 as of yesterday: The Rapid 7 line’s got new, more techy buses with signal priority technology to keep the light green at intersections! Other changes: The timetable’s been readjusted, and the stop on 20th’s been removed.

>> Update on BPA. A Cali bill to ban BPA from use in bottles or cups designed for children 3 and younger got voted down. Earlier: FDA says BPA’s ok; enviros disagree.

>> Update on rBGH. With Starbucks, Kroger’s, and other companies saying no to artificial bovine growth hormone, Monsanto put its rBGH biz on the market — and found a buyer: Eli Lilly. New uses for rBGH are still being discovered: “Turns out that feeding genetically modified cow hormones to fish makes them grow really big, really fast”
