Thought the Subway to the Sea was all set to run all the way down Wilshire to the beach? Well, it might — but it might not — and the earliest way to find out’s by going to one of the next Westside Extension Community Update Meetings — where the mystery will be revealed!
Well, it MAY be revealed — among a few other options. According to the press release, “These new round of meetings will present to the public the refined set of alternatives that will be recommended for further study and a schedule for future steps.”
Yep, we’ve had a helluva lotta meetings already to try and figure out what Subway to the Sea configuration would be best. In fact, the best choice may not even be a subway, since one of the options revealed at the last meeting was just a bus option.
Me thinks, however, that the westside’s ready for a subway — and that one of the subway configurations displayed in past meetings’ll be announced as the crowd fave — officially known as “draft staff recommendations.”
To that end: There’ll be 5 public meetings ’bout the Westside Extension, all free and open to the public.
>> Sept. 3, 6 - 8 pm: Santa Monica Public Library, Auditorium, 1st Fl., 601 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica.
>> Sept. 4, 6 - 8 pm: Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood.
>> Sept. 6, 2 - 4 pm: Beverly Hills Public Library – Auditorium, 2nd Fl., 444 N Rexford Drive, Beverly Hills.
>> Sept. 8, 6-8 pm: Los Angeles County Museum of Art West - Terrace Room, 5th Fl., 5905 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles
>> Sept. 10, 6 - 8 pm. Westwood Presbyterian Church, 10822 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles
Check one out to be in the know. Next step comes in the fall, when Metro will make recommendations to Metro’s board of directors — which may then authorize a full environmental review. Many other issues — re: funding quandaries — still also hang in the balance.
