So I was complaining to Summer about how crappy 24 Hour Fitness is, and about how I only joined because it was like $24 a month. To which Summer basically was like, of course the gym’s janky: “$24’s like the cost of one yoga class in Santa Monica.”

True that — but tomorrow, Santa Monica gets a free yoga class on the beach — courtesy of nonprofit F.I.N.SEA Foundation and pricier-than-24-Hour-Fitness gym lululemon athletica — followed up by an equally yuppie-hippie beach cleanup. It’s all called “Clean Our Beach Clean Your Soul,” and the details are as follows:
When: Sat., Aug. 23, 2008, 10 am - 12 pm
Where: Santa Monica Beach at Lifeguard Tower 17
Cost: Free!
The morning will kick off with the beach cleanup — then yoga instructor Kia Miller will lead an all-levels yoga workshop. To sweeten the deal, there’ll be healthy snacks, prize raffles and giveaways — and eco-educational info.
What to bring: A reusable water bottle, a yoga mat (though some will be provided), and a towel.
I’ll be there if I can get up in time! And I’ve quit 24 Hour Fitness — though according to them, I’m paid up until Oct. 5, so I’m stuck there until then.

Ha! Never heard you actually say “true that” before. But I’m totally stealing it and reworking it into the vocab from now on.
