Fallen fruit becomes eco-dinner 8/27

Posted by Siel in events, food, losangeles (Sunday August 24, 2008 at 8:11 am)

On Tuesday, in prep for flavor-tripping, we decided to shop at Co-opportunity to gather the foods to trip on. During the 2-3 block walk there, we ran across some girls on a ladder picking ripe, tasty figs off a tree growing on the street — who waved us over and put yummy figs in our hands. Thus, figs were included in the flavor-tripping adventure.

The lessons here: 1) Walk, don’t drive. 2) Eat things strangers give you (actually, I happened to know Sara Laimon, one of the fig pickers), and 3) Foraged fruit’s delicious.

Regardless — You can dine on harvested and foraged fruits and veggies on Wednesday, thanks to the fruity peeps at Fallen Fruit and Clockshop.

When: Wed., Aug 27, 2008, 7:30 pm – 10 pm
Where: Clearwater Studios, 2806 Clearwater St., Los Angeles
Cost: $30. RSVP required to rsvp@clockshop.org, plus PayPal payment to the same email or a check made out to Clockshop, 2806 Clearwater Street, LA, CA 90039.

Artist and cook David Thorne will be preparing the food that Fallen Fruit provides — which, if not harvested or foraged, will be bought from local farmers’ markets.
