23rd annual Coastal Clean Up Day on 9/15

Posted by Siel in environment, events, losangeles (Saturday August 25, 2007 at 9:29 am)

Pretty up our beaches while meeting other do-gooders next month by joining the 23rd annual Coastal Clean Up Day.

Basically, you’ll go to a beach location — along with about 10,000 other expected volunteers in LA County — and start fishing out trash and recyclables that uglify our coastline and harm marine life.

When: Sept. 15, 2007, 9 am – noon

Where: 70+ locations all over LA county. Santa Monica has 6 locations (PDF); take alternative transport, or print out the flyer (PDF) for FREE parking.

How: You’re allowed to just show up to one of the locations on the day of the event, but if you’d like to register, do it online or via phone: 800.HEALBAY, or 310.458.2201 x5286 for the City of Santa Monica’s Volunteer Program Office.

If you’re an earlybird, you can even take in a free yoga class from 8 – 9 am at Santa Monica State Beach, Tower 8 (@ Montana Ave.) before volunteering.

  1. I am trying to put together a group in Long Beach via Yelp. If any y’all are in Long Beach (or feel like coming down to see the “Queen City”) let me know!

  2. Is Yelp becoming an actual community? Good luck with organizing a group –
