A City Grant to Make Your Santa Monica Lawn Stress-Free

Sprinkler and grassy lawn

Remake your lawn to save you money every year — and get the city to pay for half of the makeover:

Santa Monica residents — Here’s your chance to get the city to help pay for your lawn makeover! The city is offering grants — to individuals, property owners, businesses, non-governmental organizations, and public agencies — to fund California-friendly, water-conserving landscape projects.

Here’s a chance for Santa Monica residents to redo their lawns without breaking the bank. This reimbursement grant, paid when the landscaping project is completed, will cover up to 50% of the cost of your project — up to $20,000.

More on Worldchanging Los Angeles.

Update, 6/2/09: Now Los Angeles is also giving financial incentives for converting to drought-resistant yards.

  2. Up to 20 grand per lawn, that could add up to some serious money in the end.

With the current economical situation I am not sure this would be viable any more.

  3. I love the idea of more green in our cities around the country. Even if it means more tax Dollars spent.

Plants help us get more fresh air so let us all support the green projects.
