I’m Siel, an environmental writer and activist, and you’re reading green LA girl, my personal blog about eco-friendly, sustainable living in Los Angeles.

I wrote the first green LA girl post in July 2005 when I was a grad student living in west L.A. Now, I have a Ph.D. in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Southern California and live in Santa Monica, Calif.

What I do

I write and speak about environmental and fair trade issues. I’m a contributing editor at BlogHer.com and also blog regularly for mnn.com, Lime.com and FilterForGood. Previously, I headed up LATimes.com’s environmental blog, Emerald City, and was the editor for the L.A. section of WorldChanging.
