about green LA girl

I’m Siel, an environmental writer and activist, and you’re reading green LA girl, my personal blog about eco-friendly, sustainable living in Los Angeles.

I wrote the first green LA girl post in July 2005 as a grad student living in west L.A. — and the last post in March 2012 as a writer and professor with a Ph.D. in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Southern California, living in Santa Monica, Calif.

In between, I headed up LATimes.com’s environmental blog, Emerald City (now offline), served as editor for the L.A. section of WorldChanging, contributed to KPCC‘s green blog Pacific Swell, managed and edited BlogHer.com‘s Green section, blogged for Mother Nature Network‘s lifestyle section, and wrote the Green News is Good News blog for Lime.com (since bought by Gaiam).

I’ve been interviewed and recognized as an environmental lifestyle expert on NPR’s Weekend Edition, SELF, GOOD, Sacramento News & Review, SFGate, KoreAm, and many other publications — all of which you can find out more about on my CV-esque page.

This blog is now defunct. But if you’d like to reach me personally, email me at emailsiel at gmail dot com, visit my writing website at sielju.com, or find me on Twitter.
