Well — Today marks my 4th Starbucks Challenge failure. Again, super sweet barista. But no, Cafe Estima wasn’t brewing, like it was supposed to at this Beverly Hills Starbucks on La Cienega.
The barista went over to the shelves — I think he was looking for the fair trade blend. When he couldn’t find it and turned back, I picked out Cafe Estima for him, pointing out the fair trade sticker, asked for a cup, and put a buck in the tip jar.
A few minutes later, I had my coffee — and the barista kindly explained that I might be able to get Cafe Estima at other stores this week, but that this store had run out of it and thus were brewing something else.
An explanation that might’ve made more sense if I just hadn’t picked out one of many bags of Cafe Estima sitting on the shelves for him …

Have a peek at my latest Mystery Solved(?) regarding the Unbrewed Estima COW . . .

I’m batting 1000% in Harvard Square in Cambridge. Decided on Thursday to take the challenge on in the ultra liberal bastion of Cambridge. In the past 2 days wandered into both branches (Church St and The Garage locations) and in both cases, asked for Fair Trade and had Estima gladly given!! Yesterday it was the mild house brew on Church St where the ultra hyper but friendly barista informed me they brew every Mon, Wed, and Fri and that if it wasn’t brewing they would be happy to make me cup via french press. Today, they didn’t have it at the Garage BUT again, a super friendly barista told me that if I would mind waiting a few minutes, she would grind some for me to use in a french press. She brought it out to me and then repeated what the Church St folks said, “just ask. We’ll be happy to make it for you if it isn’t the mild house brew of the day. But, it is the house brew on Tues and Sun”. So, going to try Central Square down Mass Ave next week and see if it just the Harvardites.

I’m kinda sad my sis isn’t at Harvard anymore, cuz I loved visiting the place when I did. Wonder if USC will ever reach that level of ultra liberal-ness ;)
