Blogger Beach Cleanup 1Join the Blogger Beach Cleanup and clean the beach for 20 minutes on the International Day of Climate Action with Siel of green LA girl and Sara Bayles of The Daily Ocean! Then mingle and mix with like-minded green Angelenos over drinks and yummies while plotting out a plan for our sustainable future.

When: October 24, 2009. Meet at 4 pm; cleanup begins 4:20 pm; more fun ensues 4:40 until ?
Where: Santa Monica Beach at Ocean Park, between lifeguard stations 26 and 27. (map and green travel directions)

Anyone — blogger or not — is invited! All you need to do is show up, ready to pick up trash — we’ll provide all the supplies you need. You’ll clean the beach — but only for 20 minutes (why only 20 minutes? Learn more about The Daily Ocean’s project).

After that, you’ll hear very brief invitations from local nonprofits for the next event that lets YOU make a difference in this whole big problem of climate change you’ve been hearing so much about.

Then you’ll get to chill out, drink, and eat with your new friends at the post-cleanup happy hour while waxing lyrical about pristine beaches, clean waters, local craft beer….

Why you want to be there:

1. The first 70 volunteers to arrive will get to pick from (first come first freebied):

>> a FREE reusable Envirosax bag, or

Green Bag Lady logo>> a FREE reusable Green Bag Lady tote, or

Guayaki Lemon Elation>> Guayaki’s Lemon Elation — A refreshing, fair trade, organic drink with a yerba mate kick! Plus, Guayaki works to regrow rainforests through its sustainability-minded business model.

4. You’ll meet cool friendly people at the post-cleanup happy hour at:

Pourtal logoPourtal Wine Tasting Bar. Happy hour will feature free appetizers with ingredients from the Santa Monica Farmers’ Market — plus organic and natural wines. Also, 15% of sales from the wine tasting machines will go to Heal the Bay!

5. You’ll learn what this whole “global climate change” thing’s all about — or if you already know what it’s all about, you’ll learn about some practical actions you can take to combat it — while hanging out with said cool people.
