[Read about the Big Blue Bus' new Mini Blue line here]
Apparantly, the majority of Line 10 riders on the Big Blue Bus think what I think :)
The BBB recently did a 5-day reroute, during which riders got to test out — and take a survey on — a new proposed route for the 10. Turns out, 61% prefer old route going into downtown, and 68% prefer the new route coming back to Santa Monica.
Inevitably, this led to some unnecessary questions on what inbound and outbound meant at the Community Meeting on Monday. If one listened with any attention, this was not a confusing issue, as the BBB peeps presented the survey findings as “inbound to downtown” and “outbound back to Santa Monica.” But of course, not everyone listens.
Still, most voted the way I did. When the route for the 10 changes in June (I don’t know why it takes 3 months to implement a 2-block bus-route change we know people want, but whatev), I’ll get to keep my nice inbound route that drops me off right where the 81 picks me up to whisk me off to USC, but I’ll shave off a few minutes on my trip back home.
It’s amazing how, if you consider parking and walking time, taking 2 buses to go from Santa Monica to USC only takes like 10-15 mins more than driving there — even with no bus-specific lanes. The Line 10′s making it easier and easier for me, what with moving my bus stop a block closer, and now with shortening my ride back home.
