Bike 3 blocks, see Fuel free

Next Friday, grab your bike and pedal 3 blocks to get a free movie ticket to Fuel, a new documentary film that won the Audience Award for best documentary at Sundance.

Fuel’s producers are giving away free tickets to the first 100 cyclists who bike together from the Santa Monica Pier to the theater — that’s just a few blocks away. The main problem I foresee: Where will all those bikes park?

When: Friday, Feb. 13, 6 pm
Where: Meet at the top of Santa Monica pier by the cannon in Palisades Park, the corner of Colorado and Ocean, Santa Monica
RSVP: Required to events@thefuelfilm.com.

According to the film’s website, Fuel provides “an insightful portrait of America’s addiction to oil and an uplifting testament to the immediacy of new energy solutions.” From the preview, Fuel’s message seems similar to that of Crude Impact (reviewed here), except Fuel also focuses on new technological solutions to our clean energy challenge — and features celebrities including Sheryl Crow and Woody Harrelson.

Watch the preview:

Fuel opens in L.A. on Feb. 13 in two theaters: AMC Broadway on 3rd Street in Santa Monica and Sunset 5 Laemmle in West Hollywood. Eco activists are trying to get a few thousand people to the theaters this weekend in order to make the film a success — so RSVP for the bike ride or get your ticket now!

I’ll be going to a screening on Wednesday to get a review up before the opening day –
