My local Sunday Farmers’ Market offers free bike valet — and this week, SlateV featured the eco-friendly service in a short video.
Considering how crowded and popular this farmers’ market can get, the bike valet’s a great convenience for everyone in the community. Drive a car, and you’ll be circling a while or parking far away to trek over a few long blocks — by which time you’ll be cranky from fighting traffic. Ride a bike, and all you have to do is drop off your bike right at the front of the market! In exchange, you receive a paper ticket — which get reused every week, by the way — so you can reclaim your bike once you’re done.
Santa Monica also offers free bike valet at a number of big events — including the Twilight Dance Series, a concert series on the pier that happens every Thursday evening during the summer, which’re always fun to go to. In addition, LA County Bicycle Coalition, a nonprofit bike advocacy, also offers bike valet at some events around town.

That rocks! I would totally use that at the Studio City farmer’s market off Ventura.

It would be great if other cities caught on to this program :)
