Inspired to act after watching Black Gold? (film review here). This post’s part of a series for people who’ve seen (or want to see) the film and want to act.
Black Gold’s coming back to the big screen in LA, thanks to ITVS (Independent Television Service). Yes, it’s free — all you have to do is RSVP –
When: Friday, March 30, 2006, 7:30 pm
Where: Fine Arts Theatre. 8556 Wilshire Blvd. (1 block west of La Cienega)
How: Free admission with reservation; RSVP via email before Wednesday, March 28 at 5 pm to lareservations@yahoo.com.
I’m at the point where I’m Black Gold-ed out. I’ve seen it 3 times, twice on the big screen. Still, I’m interested in what the post-screening panel discusson will reveal.
The speakers are Timothy James Castle, author of The Perfect Cup and The Great Coffee Book; Marshall Fuss, attorney for specialty coffee roasters and retailers; Ted Lingle, Executive Director of the Coffee Quality Institute; Ric Rhinehart, President of Groundwork Coffee; and Karl Seidel, President of Fresh Roast Daily.
Maybe I’ll see you there.

Marshall gave your site and content a nice plug last night. I checked out your blog today – great stuff! There was definitely a lot of interest in coffee, the plight of the Ethiopian farmers and a bit of self-righteousness by various audience members. It’s encouraging actually – because Black Gold gets audience members to ask more questions than it answers. How bad can that be?

How nice of ths Marshall person! Thanks for the kind words about the blog :) It’s pretty amazing, the shockwaves (albeit still small and underground) that Black Gold has managed to send around the world. I hope the momentum continues to build.
