Canaderek -- Please read the text properly, and follow the links if you're confused. If you do, you'll see that I'm not saying "only a little energy" is being saved via color. I quoted an expert saying that the color of the screen "mattered very little" -- a statement that's ambiguous as to which color's actually more energy efficient. If you follow the link, you'll see that sometimes darker colors can in fact use up more energy than light colors on LCD screens.

So it saves "very little" energy on an LCD monitor? Alright.

Why is saving a little energy not a good idea? Does the author feel that the fact only a little energy is saved would mean that by using Google rather than Blackle, a lot of energy would be saved? If so, I think she misunderstands Bialik.

A Thought Experiment:
If a very simple change could be made in public policy, and that change would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 0.2%, who among the readers would consider such a change a bad idea because it's only helping the environment "very little"?

The "I like the environment and all, but I don't want to be made even slightly uncomfortable - it's not THAT big a deal..." is a very common anti-environmentalism argument. I think it's shameful, but obviously very common in the United States.

Is this blog's name ironic? If so, I can appreciate the joke, if not the politics. I myself write for a site with the ironic name "Freedom Haters".

There are around 22 different versions of “black google” online. The best one I’ve found is www.cleanblack.com. Cleanblack is the only version that allows you to change the text colors of the google search results. Try it yourself by going to www.cleanblack.com/theme/

There is also the Carbon Neutral Search Engine it uses Google Custom Search but offsets a minimum of 100g of CO2 per search, saving the environment as you search

http://www.Darkoogle.com does the same thing. But the only difference is their use of text. Darkoogle.com uses green text which is more easy for our eyes and reduce more eye strain.
