Today is Blog Action Day 2009, when bloggers across the blogosphere blog about a single pressing topic. This year, that topic’s climate change — and my post urges you to sign up for the Blogger Beach Cleanup to act against climate change while making new friends on Oct. 24.
No, the cleanup itself will not stop global warming on its own, but it can be a first step towards finding an eco-community to get involved in to combat climate change together. The eco-nonprofits at the event — including Heal the Bay, Sustainable Works, C.I.C.L.E. — will all speak briefly about how you can get involved locally to improve the health of our environment.
Plus, the Blogger Beach Cleanup’s part of the International Day of Climate Action event — which Beth Terry of Fake Plastic Fish and Russ Walker at Grist both urge you to sign up for in their Blog Action Day posts.
So sign up for Blogger Beach Cleanup now! There’ll be free drinks and snacks, Envirosax totes for the first 25 volunteers to arrive, lots of prizes, and a yummy happy hour at Pourtal.
Just finding about Blog Action Day now? It’s not too late to sign up and join in –
