In prep for halloween, I’ve crocheted a blue skull.
I can tell by the little blue skulls reflected in your eyes that you wish you had one too….
The inspiration for the skull: A new book called Craftivity: 40 Projects for the DIY Lifestyle” by Tsia Carson, founder of SuperNaturale.com.
The skull in the book’s white, I think (I got a black and white reviewer’s copy). But blue better captures my mood. More accurately, I had blue yarn left over from another project.
If skulls aren’t your style, but you’re still into crocheting, try the Bag o’ bags. This is a fun shoulder bag, crocheted from other plastic bags! My friend Anna wanted to make one of these a while back — Anna, if you’ve still got the bags, we can make it a 2-woman project –
Other eco-DIY projects — T-shirt underwear (undies made from Ts that don’t fit right but have cool designs), Tyvek basket (woven basket from fedex envelopes).
And if you really, really want a locally made, fair labor produced, enviro friendly wood bed, but can’t afford to buy one right now — Craftivity has instructions for making your own! Just make sure you buy FSC certified wood.
Woodworking too much for you? Crochet yourself a hemp fiber hammock :)
Not all the projects in Craftivity are enviro-oriented, but many are. And all of ‘em are gonna be locally made :)

Hey Siel,
Dude I got this book too and I’m all over the T-shirt undie project! I was actually a little disappointed in the range of projects overall, but there are some gems in ther that hopefully will end up in my apt.
BTW, how are you enjoying the freecycle books? :)

Sadly, I haven’t read them yet :( Though I want to! At the moment, I’m deep in hell (Dante’s Inferno).
