I had a similar moment of joy seeing myself in someone else's print. I remember the first time I found my book ('Down by the Los Angeles River' - Wilderness Press 2005) referred to in a footnote. I was at the 2007 LA Times book fair (pimping my book) and purchased a book called 'A Place in the Sun: Photographs of Los Angeles by John Humble.' Many of his photos are of the LA River. One of the essays included a footnote that referenced my book... and it was really complimentary. I was so happy to see it there in print! I'll quote it: "... noted in Joe Linton's highly informative Down by the Los Angeles River..." Highly informative! In print!
