Books for free

With a Santa Monica library card, I’m officially a Santa Monica resident –

The first book I checked out: Skin Game : A Memoir. No, I am not a cutter. But some of my friends used to be. And my diss has to do with eating disorders — and may ED sufferers are also cutters –

A reminder — Libraries are eco friendly. Why buy a book you’re only gonna read once — when you can borrow it for free?

Plus, the Santa Monica library has free wifi –

Update, 6/5/06: Nearly 1 in 5 Ivy Leaguers hurt themselves on purpose, according to the AP. (thnx, Summer)

Update, 10/9/06: The bike racks are full! I’ve written the library a letter, asking for additional bike racks –

  1. The Santa Monica Library is the best. My latest – The Backyard Vegetable Factory: Super Yields for Small Spaces.

Cutting – what an upsetting issue. I had a paradign shift on this after taking a teaching credential health course- the instructor explained that many peeps associate self harm with suicide, but it can be a release of bad feelings, actually keeping some people from committing suicide. Sort of a coping mechanism to stay alive.
