So on November 18, 2006 — and really, every day — stay away from big chains and support local businesses :)

Local businesses are better — socially, environmentally, and economically — for our commuities. Lets keep our ‘hoods unique –

If you wanna go beyond your own personal choices, visit the Buy Local Day site for organizing tips and materials.

At the v. least, pen “Buy Local” into your calendar for Saturday — and make your choices accordingly –

  1. Unfortunately, the local natural foods market sells the organic teriyaki tofu I love for $4.89, whereas at Whole Foods it’s $3.79. Better? In other ways, maybe, but not for my wallet :-(

  2. Damn — That’s a lot to pay for any kind of tofu. I would recommend just getting regular tofu, then dousing it with Trader Joe’s v. yummy Soy Vey Veri Veri Teriyaki sauce –
