I am looking for canned food free recipes on the internet and I can't find any! I would like to make spaghetti sauce and other tomatoe recipes from fresh tomatoes. Does anyone know of a website or even a book for canned food free recipes?

Martini Mom -- I have a whole bunch of small plastic containers from IKEA -- not ideal because of the plastic, but I'll use them while they're still good!

What a great post. I don't think I have a local coop around here ~ but it definitely makes me think about throwing some different beans in the garden this year. I had no idea about the one can of tuna either. That's pretty scary, since it's often seen as a "healthy alternative". YIKES. I think I'm going to check around for a way to buy beans in bulk. :)

Love this post! I really want to move away from canned foods, but have been a little afraid of the effort required to do so. It never occurred to me to cook 'em up and freeze them! Sheesh...

What type of containers do you use for freezing?
