Choco energy bars, fair trade style

AlpSnack. Two of these yummy energy bars contain fair trade choco: the Fair Trade Dark Chocolate bar and the Fair Trade Espresso Bar. I’ve tried these, and I declare them yum :) Avaliable at many Whole Foods.

Maya Bar, by Lara Bar. These 90% raw vegan bars with no added sugar and no soy or dairy are just what you need if you have a date who’s a picky snacker. Avaliable at Wild Oats, Elixr at 8612 Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood, some cafes, and a buncha indie gyms and yoga studios :)

And if you’re more of a shake kinda person, try the Nutiva hemp shakes, avaliable at Wild Oats, Whole Foods, Co-opportunity, and other health food stores. The chocolate therein is fair trade :)

Update, 1/14/07: Maya bars have been renamed Jocalat. All other deets, it appears, remain the same –

  1. Yeah but the Nutiva (chocolate) is really gross :(

  2. If you’re looking for a better tasting, really “green” bar, I recommend Matisse & Jack’s. They are eco-friendly because they are wrapperless– in fact, its a mix you bake like a batch of brownies. Out comes fresh energy bars. They work out to be a lot cheaper than packaged bars too. I’ve tried their Cranberry Walnut and it’s delicious…
