  • New in eco-friendly hair care: The faux-dry. Summer tries out 3 faux-dry hair styles and advises you to “put that blow-dryer back in it’s holster and go, um, haute-natural.”
  • To AC or not AC. Wouldn’t you miss the “romance of a shockingly cold beer, sweaty sheets and rustling leaves?” Plus, there’s “the absurdity of alleviating climate discomfort with a device that in the long-term dramatically contributes to it hardly bears pointing out.”
  • Volunteer with Breathe LA and counteract Schwarzenegger‘s meddling with our air board. Helen Jupiter blogs her volunteering experience.
  • Is massive amounts of money the answer in Africa? The Millennium Villages Project seeks to end poverty in Africa town by town; In Sauri, Kenya, roughly $100′s invested for each of the village’s 5,000 inhabitants every year for five years. The success so far? Limited: “if Sauri is to become a useful model for development on a bigger scale, and not just another development expert’s white elephant, Sachs and others working on the project must acknowledge that they are still learning about Africa. Sauri is not yet a success.” (via 3qd)
